Rules and Regulations for the New Jersey State Open
1.All persons attending this competition, whether as spectators, competitors or guest of officials, hereby release the Organizers, the NDCA, their officers, employees, volunteers, agents, and any other people connected with this event, from any and all liability for damage to or loss of personal property, sickness or injury from whatever source, legal entanglements, imprisonment, death or financial loss, which might occur while participating in this event. All attendees will be aware of the risks of participation, and understand that they participate at their own risk.
2.No responsibility for the loss or theft of personal belongings left in the changing rooms, ballroom, practice spaces or any hotel rooms will be accepted by the Organizers, NDCA or the Hotel.
3.All persons attending the competition shall be bound by the NDCA rules and attending the events are automatically obliged to adhere to them.
4.No video taping or filming will be allowed, however, a professional video company will be on hand to video your dancing
5.It is understood that anyone in the ballroom may be photographed or video taped and it may be shown elsewhere. Anyone attending this event consents to be photographed and/or video taped and waves any and all claims and rights to the use of the photos or videos.
6.All completed forms and full payment must be received by the deadline. Payments must accompany entries.
7.Entry fees must be paid before competing.
8.Entry fees do not include admission to the ballroom. Non-Package holders competing or spectating, will be required to purchase General Admission Tickets.
9.All categories and events are subject to a reasonable registration and the Organizers reserve the right to reduce by half, the advertised prize money, combine, merge or cancel any heats or events with insufficient entries.
10.All Professional and amateur couples must be registered with the NDCA. NDCA registration forms are available from <www.ndca.org> or Ms. Eleanor Wiblin, PO Box 22018, Provo, Utah 84602.
11.All cancellations must be made in writing to the organizers. Cancellations made up to 10 days prior to the event will receive a refund within 30 days after the event. A $75 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be given within 10 days of the event. No substitutions of entries will be allowed. Absolutely no refunds will be given at the event. Refunds or exchanges cannot be made on plaques, trophies or general admission tickets.
12.The Chairman of Judges shall be responsible for decisions concerning ties or any problem arising over marks. Any questions or discrepancy of results are to be addressed immediately after the results of the event are given. The decision of the Chairman shall be final.
13.Adult students (19+) may enter a younger age category in addition to their normal age division, but not an older one.
14.A student may dance in three consecutive divisions; for example: Full Bronze Tango, Pre-Silver Tango and Silver one Tango, but not Full Silver Tango.
15.Teachers may not enter two students in the same category.
16.Collegiate competitors must be under 30 years young and have a current valid Student ID card. Copy of drivers license and student ID should accompany entry forms and presented for session ticket purchases.
17.Costumes may be worn, but are not required in all categories. No thongs are permitted. It is recommended that children follow the NDCA costuming requirements.
18.If in the opinion of the organizers, a costume is deemed inappropriate, the competitor will have the option of changing costumes or withdrawing from the competition. No refunds will be issued in this situation. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any competitor who fails to rectify a costuming warning.
19.The organizers reserve the right right to refuse admission to person or persons who have violated any of the above rules at any recognized NDCA event.
20.These rules and regulations may be amended at the discretion of the organizers. Any changes will be provided via the web site <www.njstateopen.com>
